Garnering four Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best International Feature Film and Best Adapted Screenplay, Asako I & II director Hamaguchi Ryusuke's Drive My Car is based on Murakami Haruki's same-titled story from the Men Without Women short story collection. Starring Nishijima Hidetoshi (While the Women Are Sleeping), Miura Toko (Dynamite Graffiti), Kirishima Reika (Norwegian Wood) and Okada Masaki (The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window), ​the film explores love, loss, sexuality and creativity in subtle yet powerful manner.

Drive My Car has picked up a score of accolades including Best Screenplay, FIPRESCI Prize and Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, Best Feature Film and Screenplay at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Best Film from the New York Film Critics Circle, and Best Foreign Language Film at the Golden Globe Awards.

Theater director and actor Kafuku Yusuke (Nishijima Hidetoshi) had a fulfilling marriage with his wife (Kirishima Reika), a scriptwriter, until she suddenly disappeared from his life, leaving behind many secrets.

Two years later, Yusuke sets out for Hiroshima in his beloved old car to attend a theater event. He is accompanied on this trip by quiet driver Watari Misaki (Miura Toko). While spending time with Misaki and recalling the past, he comes to realize many things that he had failed to see.
