The Apple Mac Pro Server has more processing power, better graphics performance and greater storage options than any other Mac. This powerful workstation is easy to customise thanks to its removable side panel that gives you instant access to all the components. With easy expansion you can simply upgrade the memory by sliding out the processor tray, slide out the drive bays to add extra storage or slide out a simple bar to change four expansion cards.
Designed with an advanced processor from Intel, the Quad-Core Intel Xeon 3.2GHz processor gives you fantastic performance. Unlike other multicore processors that are composed of seperate dies, the Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors are composed of a single die, 64-bit architecture. This design means 8MB of fully shared L3 cache is available for each of the processor cores to give you greater application performance.
System memory is usually connected to a processor through a seperate I/O controller. Intel Xeon processors feature an integrated memory controller, which connects the 8GB (4 x 2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM memory directly to the processor. This gives the Mac Pro faster access to data stored in memory and memory latency will be reduced.
Complete with a high-performance graphics card from AMD, the Mac Pro graphics technology is up to 5 times faster than ever before. The ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB of GDDR5 memory is ideal for motion graphics, 3D modelling, rendering or animation.
The Mac Pro includes four 3.5-inch drive bays for a huge amount of internal storage, so you can install up to four 2TB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drives to give you 8TB. Cable-free, direct-attach installation system makes it quick and easy to add hard drives. The Apple Mac Pro Server comes with 2 x 1TB hard drives and an 18x SuperDrive with double-layer support for writing your data onto CDs or DVDs.
OS X is engineered to help you get the most out of the advanced architecture in the Mac Pro. With its fully certified UNIX foundation, OS X gives you true 64-bit performance and includes industry-leading Xcode developer tools. - A.D.
