Following the release of some secret Russian WWII records 'Mike Laszlo' (Armin Mueller-Stahl) finds himself accused of being a notorious war criminal. Laszlo, a U.S. citizen for nearly 50 years is particularly proud of his daughter, whom he must now call upon for help. Ann (Jessica Lange) has become a successful lawyer and must now come to her father's aid. Convinced of a communist plot to discredit him he insists that Ann defends him in court, but will she uncover a great deal more about her beloved father?
