During the series we'll learn that Cross' wife and child were killed by a creature and that his quest to save lives is deeply personal. Cross' privately funded team, the Special Project Group (SPG), is a diverse bunch who operate from a secret and cutting edge headquarters nick-named 'The Tank'. From this precinct the team's lead engineer, Toby Nance, develops technology that detects anomalies. This warning system allows them to find anomalies and track creatures that have come through. The race is always on to find the creatures before they attack the unsuspecting public.
