Brilliant Film critic Didier Temple (Fabrice Luchini) writes a scathing review of a film he didn't see and his world starts falling apart. His girlfriend, Juliette Savage (Sandrine Kiberlain - L'Appartemnent), looks for other lovers while telling Didier "I Hate him. I am yours" and fellow critic Chatwick-West (Michel Piccoli - Belle de Jour, Le Mepris) berates him for his flippancy. Meanwhile the beautiful, young and neurotic Aurelie (Valentina Cervi - Artemisia) takes her clothes off in front of him.
Can Didler salvage the situation, win back his girlfriend's attention and resist the temptatious and captivating orbit of Aurelie?
A wonderfully observed and enjoyable comedy by director Pascale Bonitzer, writer of many of the great French director Jacque Rivette's best films.
