Disc One:
Worzel's Washing Day
When children John and Sue Peters begin a farm holiday with their father, they make friends with a scarecrow of unbelievably human characteristics, Worzel Gummidge. They soon discover that their straw companion has a very mischievous nature and a penchant for stealing clothes - not only from the farm washing line but also from their own father. Worzel, mistaken for a thieving tramp is pursued by a policeman into a nearby quarry...
A Home Fit For Scarecrows
Worzel craves not only for a home of his own but furniture as well. It is only when chairs and tables go missing from the farmhouse and village that John and Sue suspect their straw friend to be the culprit. They learn that 'a tramp' has been found trying to steal a bed from irritable villager Mr. Shepherd, and after much persuasion, manage to get the wily scarecrow back to ten acre field before the law catches up with him...
Aunt Sally
On hearing that village fete is being held, Worzel pays a visit and there meets a forlorn Aunt Sally who is in fear of being sold to tourists by her grumpy owner, Mr. Shepherd. The scarecrow takes an immediate fancy to her and agrees to change clothes so that she might escape. However when Aunt Sally is caught by the police and put in jail, Worzel comes to the rescue...
Disc Two:
The Crowman
The snobbish Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton asks Worzel's creator, 'The Crowman', to make her a handsome scarecrow for her garden. When Worzel hears of this he asks The Crowman to allow him to wear the new handsome head himself in order that he might propose to a female scarecrow in an adjoining field. But having just put on the head at Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton's, he is mistaken for the crowman's assistant...
A Little Learning
Worzel has misplaced one of his many turnip heads, this time his 'learning' head which makes him very clever. He searches everywhere for it and then remembers that John and Sue have begun at the local school. Meanwhile Mr. Peters is doing some repair work on the schoolhouse roof, the versatile man of straw has found his learning head in the school chimney...
Worzel Pays A Visit
Worzel still pines to meet his old flame Aunt Sally again and is worried that not only does she remain missing, but also that Mr. Shepherd and the police are still seeking her. Therefore when John and Sue discover that she is working at Mrs Bloomsbury-Barton's as a maid, it is not long before Worzel pays a visit...
Disc Three:
A Fishy Tale
While Worzel is trying to get the hang of fishing, by wearing his wangling head and casting his rod in Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton's goldfish pond, he is mistaken for an odd job man and asked to mend her dish-washer. However, Worzel thinks that he is to mend the 'fish-washer' and when he sees an ornamental fish tank in the house, he walks off with it and into trouble...
The Trial Of Worzel Gummidge
Worzel is worried when a salesman suggests that Mr. Braithwaite replaces him with an electric rook scarer. The rooks in ten acres field are obviously no longer frightened of him, so he bombards them with potatoes. However, his aim is not at all good, as he breaks greenhouse glass, hits people in the village and - worst of all - knocks off The Crowman's hat. As a result, he is brought to trial...
Very Good Worzel
Mrs. Bloomsbury-Barton has invited some important guests to lunch, so she hires a butler and a parlour maid for the day to impress them. By mistake, the jobs are given to Worzel and Aunt Sally, but when the real butler, Baines, turns up, they lock him in the cellar so that they can keep their posts...
