Bill Maynard (Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt!) is Fred Moffat, the tight-fisted yet quick-thinking director of a struggling light-engineering firm, in this cleverly scripted, bittersweet sitcom which regularly attracted audiences of over 16 million. Pat Ashton also stars as the Gaffer's glamorous secretary Betty, and Russell Hunter (Callan) is militant shop steward Harry.
