Chuck "Tiger" Warsaw (Swayze) brought shame and sorrow to his family when he shot his father in a quarrel. The following 15 years he spent self-destructing, dealing and taking drugs and giving his child up for adoption.
Chuck returns to his hometown in a last-ditch attempt to put his shattered life back together. But his father, now a semi-invalid, and his sister Paula (McDonnell) refuse to forgive him. Only his mother (Laurie) is glad to see him, but she is torn between her love for her son and her duty as a wife.
