The Lord of the Rings universe makes a welcome return in this action title from EA that places players in the midst of the battle for Middle-earth.

The Lord of the Rings novel and film trilogy created a wonderful sense of scale and urgency for the battles that waged across Middle-earth, and The Lord of the Rings – Conquest recreates this feeling on the battlefield. Players are placed in the middle of the ongoing war and given the option of fighting for either side: good or evil. Many of the fantasy creatures and characters from the series are on offer here to be used during battles, each with their own specific skills and abilities.

Online, up to 16 players can choose a side and fight against one another in one huge brawl, or four players can team up and play through the main campaign co-operatively. Two campaigns are on offer, one of which gives players an alternative take on the Lord of the Rings universe – predicting what would happen if Sauron gained control of the ring.

The epic scale and immense scope of the Lord of the Rings series is successfully moved into The Lord of the Rings – Conquest, both online and offline.
