Over 100 rarely seen archive performances

For over 15 years The Old Grey Whistle Test was essential viewing for fans of album artists and so called "serious" music. This programme was the only place for avant-garde, heavy metal, progressive and jazz rock performers to play live, as well as providing a showcase for American artists unlikely to appear anywhere else on British television. Over one hundred performances are included on this special DVD including such disparate but classic acts as Tim Buckley, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, The Pet Shop Boys, Siouxsie and the Banshees, David Bowie and BB King.

Volume One also includes specially filmed introductions by the show's key presenters - Richard Williams, Bob Harris, Annie Nightingale, Mark Ellen, David Hepworth and Andy Kershaw.
