Manuel Tur steps up to deliver the eagerly anticipated follow up to '0201', his 2009 debut album. 'Swans Reflecting Elephants' is the sound of a dance producer coming of age, making use of the long player format to indulge in a more experimental, darker and introspective take on electronic music. The Essen based artist has been a regular on the respected and highly lauded Freerange Records label since 2007 when he released his 'Acorado' and 'Portamento' EPs, in turn helping to establish a new sound in the increasingly popular deep house scene of that time. Never one to stand still musically Manuel always strives to surprise and challenge and with the new album he succeeds triumphantly, producing a release which takes the rawness of Detroit techno fused with a sample-heavy sound to form something that is both engaging and emotive. Vocalist / producer Blakkat provides his sensual vocals on standout tracks 'Maybe Next Lifetime' and 'I'm Alive', whilst Elina Monova brings a beautiful and otherworldly sound to 'Just Love'. All in all a highly accomplished album with depth, focus and vision, which looks set to be a worthy contender for electronic album of the year.
