ESPN 30 for 30: Jordan Rides The Bus
15,49 €

In 1993 Michael Jordan was probably the biggest sports star on the planet, having led the Chicago Bulls to three NBA Championships in a row and universally acclaimed as the greatest basketball player of all time. At the very height of his powers, at the peak of his success, he walked away from the sport…and took up professional baseball. But the journey was not just about the challenges of a new game: Jordan went from enjoying success at the top of his chosen sport to the workaday life of a struggling Minor League ball player. He joined a team in the lower leagues, playing a season with Alabama’s Birmingham Barons, and exchanged the world of top facilities and private planes for one of run-down stadiums and riding the team bus with the guys.
What prompted Jordan to take so drastic a step in his career, and how did he cope with being just another name on the team sheet, a player of average ability, rather than a superstar? This memorable film reveals the determination that lies at the heart of a true champion.
- Award winning director Ron Shelton (Tin Cup, White Men Can’t Jump, Bull Durham), renowned for his Hollywood sports movies, makes his documentary debut.
- Produced with the same high production values as the rest of ESPN’s prestigious 30 For 30 series of films.
- A 1999 ESPN survey of journalists, athletes and sports figures rated Michael Jordan the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century, ahead of the likes of Muhammad Ali. His influence in sport and fashion continues to be strong.
