The Hurricane was most of the most versatile fighters of World War II, though somewhat unfairly overshadowed by the more glamorous Spitfire. It was the first eight-gun monoplane fighter produced by Britain, and indeed the first monoplane in service in the Battle of Britain. As a result, it bore the brunt of the heaviest enemy attacks.
In this unique video, we feature aerobatic manoeuvres similar to those that would have been employed by Battle of Britain pilots in the heat of the dogfight. The pilot's-eye-view from our in-cockpit cameras show you what it is really like to fly this 1942 Mark XII Hawker Hurricane - an aircraft capable of speeds in excess of 300mph. You can really appreciate the exceptional manoeuvrability, stability and tight turning radius that the Hurricane possessed.
Manston Airfield in Kent - where allied airmen know their 'finest hour' - is the site of the evocative Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Building. Museum staff and restorers talk about the significant role this famous aircraft played.
