The complete third series of London's Burning features Blackwall Fire Station's Blue Watch in some of their most dramatic stories - crashed chemical lorries and burning ships counterpoint the more personal stories of the firefighters. It's this combination of drama and personal issues that made London's Burning a huge success for ITV1, with viewers loving the quirky but human characters who put their lives on the line every week. This set features all eight episodes of the third series, originally transmitted in 1990.
Episode One:
Josie is leaving Blackwall for a post at another station. The Watch's farewell gift is a male stripper. Vaseline's replacement is Colin Parrish, straight out of training and very green.
Episode Two:
Josie is acting Sub at her new station and supervises a 'shout' involving a crashed lorry, with two injured workmen. Blue Watch arrive on the scene and have to take their orders from Josie.
Episode Three:
A drug war leads to a fire in a block of flats. Colin chases one of the suspects and is threatened with a knife. Bayleaf comes to his rescue, but at the cost of a slashed face.
Episode Four:
After Hallam saves a distressed claimant who set fire to himself in a DHSS office, blue Watch are called to a collapsed trench on a building site, where a young worker has been buried alive.
Episode Five:
High up on the side of an office tower block, a window cleaner's arm gets stuck in a cradle mechanism. A terrified Sicknote is sent down on a rope to rescue him. At the suggestion of Clare, Bayleaf applies for a transfer.
Episode Six:
Kate Stevens joins Blue Watch and proves her worth at an accident involving two cars and a chemical lorry.
Episode Seven:
Blue Watch are on night duty and have been called out to a number of timewasting 'looney tune' shouts. If nothing else, the crew are pleased that Bayleaf is back in the mess.
Episode Eight:
The Watch are called out to a shout at an old man's flat. While Malcolm goes to collect his bravery award, Tate has a routine medical and is shocked to hear he is to be taken off duty at once.
