Rangers The Journey - Season Review 212
13
"13" was Blur's last release of the 1990's, and was the natural progression of the new direction that was laid out in their landmark self-titled 1997 release. In short, it could quite rightly be called their most experimental album to date. Produced by William Orbit, it shouldn't be a surprise that it incorporated elements of electronica in addition to their alt-rock developments of the past. The best of the album can be found in tracks like "Coffee & TV", "No Distance Left to Run", and "Tender". The bands penultimate album, "13" hints at the behind the scenes strains that would lead to their break up, but is also an apt demonstration of their remarkable talents. (Adam Bibby)
