In 1982 MGM and United Artists released the first ever adult rock animation that had taken three years to complete. It contained a soundtrack written by Debbie Harry, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Cheap Trick and Earth Wind and Fire. The animated story of a post-apocalyptic race of human mutants fighting between good and evil was launched on an unsuspecting world without any fanfare or publicity. Despite this, the film quickly acquired a legendary status when it was released on video. This Collector's edition has been remastered from the original prints with Dolby 5.1 sound for its first ever DVD release.
