The series charts Shelby as he takes on a big challenge: he’s decided to build a huge houseboat in the swamp for guys who want to experience swamp life. To earn the money to build it, he embarks on a series of odd jobs and adventures – doing favours for people in the swamp, settling disputes, launching crazy money-making schemes with his kinfolk, giving swamp tours to rich folk, etc. The series explores Shelby’s peculiar role as a kind of ‘Mayor of the Swamp.’ He knows everyone, and in his own ‘out there’ way is a stalwart of the community.
