When Sam Allardyce was appointed West Ham United manager the objective was simple - win promotion back to the Premier League and, at the first time of asking, that's exactly what he did!
The 2011/12 season was a remarkable campaign which saw a record-breaking 14 away wins notched up. Fans witnessed high-scoring victories over Watford, Nottingham Forest, Blackpool and Brighton and a terrific team spirit shone through to earn the Hammers the promotion back to the top tier of English football. With standout performances from the likes of Carlton Cole, Kevin Nolan, Ricardo Vaz Te and Mark Noble, who notched up 48 goals between them, West Ham teetered on the brink of automatic promotion. But despite losing only twice in the Championship since January, the Hammers had to take on an emotionally draining route back to the Premier League via the Play-Offs.
After convincingly beating Cardiff City 5-0 over the two legs of the semi-final, West Ham took on Blackpool on a glorious afternoon at Wembley. Relive every goal from every game plus extended highlights of the Play-Off final in which Vaz Te's late decider sent the Hammers up the Wembley steps as victors and back to the elite of English football as heroes.
